King Odo

“I am the keeper of the ruins, the idiot prince, now king. What will my people say when they see I have returned with but an army of eight? That I lead them to a grave?”

“’Tis nine including the wolf, Your Grace.”

Odo gave no notice of Fisher’s question, then realized what he had asked.. “No rumor. Father was not a king; he was a pirate, a marauder, one who drew his courtiers to believe he was the man who could shit gold… a great man of war—but he failed at it. Over and over, he failed, and like every other pirate out there, he shit shit!

During King Odo’s first privy meeting, a minister points out that the royal cellars are now empty due to the young king’s generosity toward peasants.

“Kings have codes. Break them, and the sea will swallow the ship, Your Grace.”

King Odo’s lip rose. “The broken tempest allows the ships to sail safely. A king’s code should be a broken tempest for all his people. Red Isle is falling apart, Cabi. Give a man a mead.”

The Story

Dangerous secrets began to surface when a tower was resurrected in the overgrown ruins of Castle Brun. The first megalithic stone thudded with a loud crack on top of another, summoning the Great Apothecary and her beasts. The young king, his men, and two angry Guardians were reduced to meat—a meal for their enemies at the echoing of that thud. Escaping the fire became a daily trial—but survival required strength none imagined possible.

Set in a realistic twist, brothers, friends, and enemies grow together regardless of whether some must die.

Heroes? They still do not say the word; they are outlaws who found a cause. They are rulers who must choose. They are the enemies now trapped in truths.

From the frozen peaks of the ancient Seven Snow Realms to the outstretched wonders of the Great Lands below them, divided were two worlds—the Snows and the Tribals. Snows born to the power of Nohar were enemies of the lesser Tribals. But Nohar had faded, and secrets rose. The Realms raced to unlock the knowledge of a resurgent power that had grown unstable and dangerous for both worlds.
